What they get out of it

More than
a sport

These classes provide kids with the skills of discipline, coordination, focus, confidence and social skills — with tangible goals, in a friendly and safe environment.

Confidence

Quiet kids find their voice. Loud kids learn to channel it. Both come out steadier than they went in.

Discipline

Turn up, bow on, listen, work. The structure is the lesson as much as the technique is.

Coordination

Balance, timing and body awareness that shows up immediately in whatever other sport they play.

Real self defence

How to defend themselves without striking, how to use leverage, and how to fall and roll safely.

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00pm
  • Saturday mornings at 9:30am
  • Belt and stripe gradings give them something concrete to chase
  • The single best answer to bullying we know of

  • Wednesday and Friday at 5:00pm
  • Pads and bags only — no hard contact between children
  • Improves coordination and fitness, and increases discipline and confidence
  • Whilst having fun — which is the point at this age
From a parent

I ended up joining my whole family as members. My two children aged six and eight started attending a Saturday morning session and the change in their fitness is amazing. They now attend at least twice a week. Their fitness has improved so much that it shows in the other sports they play. Attending these sessions for my children has not only improved their fitness but also given them a self-belief and confidence in themselves.

The questions
you actually have

Kids jiu-jitsu has no striking whatsoever — it is grappling, and the first thing they learn is how to fall safely. Kids kickboxing is pads and bags only, with no hard contact between children. Bumps and mat burn happen the way they do in any sport; head contact does not.

The consistent experience is the opposite. Kids who know they can handle themselves have far less to prove in the playground. The classes are built around respect, listening and control — a child who cannot follow those rules does not get to do the fun parts.

This is exactly who these classes are best for. There is no bench, no team to be picked for and no ball to drop in front of anyone. Progress is measured against where they started, and the coaches are used to spending the first few weeks just getting a quiet kid comfortable.

Yes, always. Parents are welcome to stay for the whole session. Some kids do better if you drop and go — you will work out which yours is quickly enough, and either is completely fine with us.

Shorts, a t-shirt and a water bottle for the trial. We will lend a gi for kids jiu-jitsu and gloves for kids kickboxing. No shoes on the mats, and please trim fingernails and toenails before class.

Kids memberships are $140 per month and cover every kids class on the timetable — up to seven sessions a week. The trial class is free, and there is no joining fee or lock-in contract. See pricing for the full picture.
