Kickboxing, boxing
& fitness
The busiest classes on our timetable, morning and night, six days a week. Hit things properly, get seriously fit, and leave lighter than you arrived.
Inside a
typical class
A typical class may start with a warm-up drill. We will likely then work on punching combinations, specific kicks, kicking combinations or punch-kick combinations.
Padwork
Focus mitts, kick shields and Thai pads, held by a coach or a partner who knows how to hold them. This is where technique becomes power.
Dutch drills
Continuous partner drills with shin guards and large gloves — the Dutch method of building combinations under fatigue. Brutal, and it works.
Cardio & conditioning
We work cardio, strength and punch conditioning with punching drills and circuit work. Every class ends with something that hurts a little.
No contact
No sparring. No contact. No excuses left.
Class may include punching drills and combinations, heavy bag drills, bodyweight and additional equipment exercises, and circuit work. Classes have no body contact, involve no sparring, and are suitable for all skill and fitness levels.
- The single easiest way into this gym if you are nervous
- Nobody will ever ask you to spar — that is a different class entirely
- Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:00pm
Why kicking burns
more than anything
Boxing training and its high-intensity interval nature makes it ideal for fat loss and weight control. But nothing compares in fat-burning capacity to kicking — kicking expends roughly 60% more energy, and combined with the resistance of a kick shield or pad, it is an ideal instrument for shedding kilos.
“Within the first three weeks of me starting boxing and kickboxing I had noticed my body changing dramatically. My arms, legs and particularly my stomach were already showing muscle definition. I couldn't believe that I could notice these changes to my body in such a short time. I was thrilled.
“At 55 years of age I thought that it would be too difficult to reach and maintain the required level of fitness to participate. Since starting, I have dropped weight and improved my overall cardio fitness dramatically. Tom accommodates for each participant's skill and fitness level in each session.

Before you start
Boxing & Fitness is hands only, with no contact and no sparring at all — drills, bags and circuits. Kickboxing & Fitness adds kicks, knees and partner padwork, and includes Dutch drills with shin guards. Both are suitable for beginners; boxing is the gentler entry point.
Not for your first class — we will lend you a set. After that, a pair of 14oz or 16oz gloves and some hand wraps is a small investment and much more hygienic than borrowing. We will tell you what to look for.
Good — nothing to unlearn. Every class starts from stance and the jab, and the coach will put you with someone patient. Nobody in that room is watching you; they are all busy being tired.
As hard as you make them. The coach scales the work to whoever is in the room — that is the thing our members mention most often. You set the intensity on the pads and you can step out of a round whenever you need to.
Come and hit
something
There is a striking class almost every time the doors are open. Your first one is free.
