A room full of
people trying

The Mint Martial Arts and Fitness Gym has been teaching combat sports in Craigieburn for years — to fighters, to parents, to fifty-five year olds who had never thrown a punch.

Loyalty, respect and the desire to better ourselves

Who we are

Not a franchise.
Not a chain.

The Mint is a multi-discipline combat gym on Poa Court in Craigieburn. We teach Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, MMA, kickboxing and boxing — properly, by people who train and compete themselves.

There is no reception desk, no membership consultant and no twelve-month contract with an early-exit fee. There is a matted floor, a wall of heavy bags, a cage, and a coach who will know your name by the second week.

What we care about is that everyone who walks in gets coached — the fighter preparing for an amateur card and the parent who came because their doctor said something. Those two people train in the same room here, and it works.

How we run the room

Three rules,
really

01

Leave your ego at the door

Nobody here needs to prove anything to a beginner. Anyone using size or strength to make a point gets a quiet word, and then a louder one.

02

Look after your partner

You cannot train if the person opposite you is injured. Control comes before power in every class we run, including the hard ones.

03

Just keep turning up

Talent is not the variable that matters. The people who get good here are the ones who came back on the night they did not feel like it.

The coaching team

Who you will
be training with

A close-knit team — which mostly means you get corrected by someone who remembers what you were working on last week.

Tom, head coach at The Mint MMA Head Coach

Tom

The Mint's head coach, and the name that comes up in every member testimonial we have. Known for scaling a session to whoever is in front of him — a fifty-five year old beginner and a competing amateur get the same attention on the same night.

Why people
stay

I have now been attending Mint Martial Arts for eight months, now joining into the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes that are just exhilarating. Can't wait for my next class.

Kelly35, mother of two

Having been at the Mint for seven months, I have become very familiar with the environment and the friendliness of the other members. Within myself, my co-ordination and flexibility has improved dramatically. I would recommend the Mint to anyone that asks me about it.

Darren Reardon39, joined with his family

Tom's classes are terrific. He accommodates for each participant's skill and fitness level in each session. The classes are fun, varied and challenging. Improvements in my hand-eye coordination, stamina and boxing skills have been surprisingly quick even at my age.

Michael Marinov55, boxing & fitness

I have trained in Muay Thai and kickboxing in the past at other gyms. Besides the obvious weight loss and health benefits that the classes offer, I attend more for the physical training aspect.
